Reading most people's tweets is as interesting as overhearing conversations on the subway

Let me preface all of this by saying, sure I live with a curmudgeon hermit.
But as time goes by I see more and more evidence that he isn't so wrong about the way he sees some things, especially his ideas about people and interactions he has with them. I can wholeheartedly relate to most of them.

I grew up around poor, uneducated people.. suburban nightmare
same old story... i was weird, smart and a bitch

(as you might have noticed... none of those things have changed about me)

so now I live in a city of people encroaching about 9 million

I get less and less tolerant of people as each day passes

I want to be a good person, I want to be nice to people, I want to have no prejudice and I want to not assume; but if I don't have any sort of inclinations towards animistic reactions, I won't survive on my own. Paranoia keeps you safe, naivety leaves you for dead.

I don't comprehend the way most general people think, it bewilders me. I either have to assume they are:
1- a robot who can't make their own decisions or wont make them
2- someone who is aware of what is going on but refuses to accept it so just goes with the crowd
3- actually a zoo animal in human form, with an IQ of around someone who has a brick to the head

and then there is that small percentage of people who think for themselves, question authority, analyze, investigate, challenge everything and who can hold up an interesting conversation.

All this from reading people's twitter feeds... seriously no one reads them, we are all stupid, self-important assholes, who should fight for freedom and get out of this rat race alive. I'm sickened by the inane conversations, I almost want someone to say Im wearing something weird so I can tell them they should read a book or do something else more constructive. It's harder not to stereotype except I see it all the time on the subway. I listen to loud music on the subway just to drown any knowledge of uselessness around me.

I consider myself to be an open minded person, but its hard. I went to a Sikh festival over the weekend and had an interesting conversation with one since I wanted to know more about their culture and practices, since I had no idea. While we were waiting in line for free Indian food, a group of about 10 Indian women, cut us in line and looked down at us since we were white. I really wish we were all one color, so then it wouldn't be about skin tone, it would be about who is polite, kind or intelligent.

For anyone who thinks living in new york is awesome, its not, please don't move here.
Thanks

Does anyone out there in the world, use their brains at all, if so please feel free to tell me your thoughts, I'm listening
